The ultimate joy ride for luxury vehicle enthusiasts

While there are plenty of luxury car brands around the world, there are two that are synonymous with luxury sports cars. Ferrari and Lamborghini are two of the most noticeable brand names regardless of industry, and now they are ready to take things to another level. For as long as anyone can remember, when you pictured a Ferrari or Lambo, you had an idea of what the vehicle would look like. That notion is going to change now, because they are preparing to enter the SUV sector of the automobile industry. Lamborghini has already developed and begun manufacturing their first SUV, which gives them a leg up on their rival, as Ferrari is still in the conceptual phase of this monumental transition.

Lamborghini Urus

The Lamborghini Urus is set to be the Italian company’s first SUV, although it looks more like a crossover. Nevertheless, the sleek automobile definitely incorporates the style and design of a Lamborghini. It is set to debut on December 4 and will begin selling in 2018. The company certainly has big plans for the Urus, anticipating that 1,000 will be manufactured in its first year.  If everything goes as planned, production would jump to 3,500 in 2019, which would make the Urus the top selling model for Lamborghini. That’s quite the expansion for a luxury automotive brand. As for the car itself, it will include a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine with 650 horsepower, so needless to say, this Lambo will still gallop like the models before it. The company also plans on producing a hybrid variant in 2019.

Ferrari’s Approach

If and when Ferrari decides to produce an SUV, they will do it their way. According to Ferrari CEO Sergio Marchionne, the company is “dead serious” about building a new SUV. On the other hand, another Ferrari spokesperson said that they have no plans to launch an SUV anytime soon. It all seems confusing, but the two comments were actually clarified and do coincide with one another. Ferrari plans to reinvent the concept of an SUV, only the way that Ferrari can. They are widely recognized for their innovative designs, and Marchionne clarified that the company will allow its engineers to reinvent the vehicle how they see fit. Ultimately, it is not clear whether or not Ferrari will produce an SUV or a crossover or anything remotely similar, but it is clear that if they decide to move forward with the project, things will be done “Ferrari style.”

Justin Bieber has a garage full of expensive cars to go along with plethora of gold records. The 23-year-old has already spent nearly a decade in the spotlight, accumulating a reported $225 million in total career earnings. Bieber has since decided that buying luxurious cars is a good way to spend a large portion of his disposable income. Here are a few of the celebrity car collector’s notable vehicles:

Ferrari F430

This car can be called Bieber’s first love – the pop singer bought this customized Ferrari back when he was just 16 years old. But his affection for the car could not stop him from making some alterations. In 2103, Bieber changed the color of the car for a third time – painting it black. Today, the car is worth nearly $250,000.

Fisker Karma

This 2012 luxury sports sedan is a favorite amongst Hollywood's elite. The sleek, gray design that Bieber has definitely attracts a lot of attention whenever he takes the Karma out for a joy ride. The car boasts a 120-kW motor, which equates to 161 horsepower.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder

This is Bieber’s most well-known vehicle…. mainly because he got arrested in this car in 2014. The Canadian native was speeding around the Miami Beach area when he was pulled over and charged with drag racing and DUI. This $250,000 vehicle is capable of going 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.

Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 Italia

Apparently, Bieber just didn’t have enough room in his garage for this 2011 model. The singer made the difficult decision to put the vehicle up for auction back in January. The Ferrari comes equipped with an eight-cylinder, 4.5-liter engine. The car fetched $434,000 when the sale was finalized at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bieber’s last world tour concluded back in July. His latest album Purpose, has gone platinum three times in the United States, finishing third on the Billboard’s year end chart in 2016. Bieber released a single called ‘Friends’ in mid-August, peaking at number twenty in the U.S.

As the car industry continues to change on what seems like a daily basis, there are a select few brands that remain synonymous with luxury. Technological advancements have allowed these companies to combine innovation and tradition to create a new age of luxury vehicles. The new models offer the same authentic feel as their predecessors, but they include all the bells and whistles offered in the industry today. Here are the top five global luxury car brands.

BMW might be the most versatile brand on the list, offering anything from a high-end roadster to a family station wagon. BMW is known for its sleek designs and vehicle reliability. In fact, the 2017 BMW 4-Series was voted best luxury small car by the U.S. News & World Report. The final report for 2016 revealed that BMW broke its worldwide sales record for the sixth year in a row.

Mercedes-Benz has been improving their model lineup year after year, and at the end of 2016, the German car manufacturer officially passed BMW as the top selling luxury car brand in the United States. The U.S. News & World Report named the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class the best luxury midsize car and the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class the best luxury large SUV on the market.

After a bit of a hiatus, Jaguar stormed back into the luxury car game a few years back. Since then, they have developed some of the most innovative designs in the industry. Typically known for their sedans and sports cars, Jaguar introduced the 2017 F-Pace, which currently ranks third in the luxury compact SUV category. If Jaguar continues to expand their lineup, they will continue to climb the list as one of the top luxury brands in the world.

Competitive pricing and stylish design helps Audi appeal to wider customer base than most typical luxury brands. It does help that they are owned by Volkswagen, but Audi does not slack on any of the details. The brand’s various models often rank at or near the top of their respective categories. In fact, the 2018 Audi Q5 was named the best luxury compact SUV and the best luxury crossover SUV in the industry by the U.S. News & World Report.

Porsche was voted the best luxury car brand of 2017 by the U.S. News & World Report, as its performance-based lineup ranks near the top of almost every luxury car category. For example, Porsche models hold the top spot in luxury sports cars, luxury convertibles, and luxury midsize SUVs, with a number of top 3 finishes in additional categories as well. The Porsche Cayenne added something to the brand’s lineup of vehicles that it lacked in the past; versatility. The high-end SUV provides a spacious family vehicle with off-roading capabilities and the same cutting-edge performance that is often associated with Porsche.

So far, we’ve touched on the fastest cars, most expensive cars, and top luxury car brands of 2017. Now, it’s time to take a look at the top luxury cars of the year. Of course, the top brands such as Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche are going to have some of the top vehicles on the market year-in and year-out; however, you might be surprised to see some of the other brands that landed their 2017 models on the top five luxury cars list.

2017 Tesla Model S

For $68,000, you can purchase the top electric car on the market. The Tesla Model S is a fully-electric sedan that can seat anywhere from five to seven passengers, which is rare for a vehicle that qualifies as a luxury sports car. An added bonus to owning an all-electric car is the extra storage space in the front trunk, which makes this machine an all-in-one masterpiece.

2017 Genesis G90

Genesis is a new brand that is currently owned by Hyundai, although it is trying to separate itself from the South Korean manufacturer. The G90 is a part of the large luxury class and comes stocked with a 365-horsepower twin-turbocharged V6 engine, although you can choose to upgrade to a more powerful V8. The only knock on the G90 is the lack of trunk space and fuel economy compared to rival vehicles.

2017 Porsche Cayman

A number of Porsche models could’ve made this list, but the Porsche Cayman made the biggest impression in 2017. Basically the 718 Boxster’s twin, the Cayman costs only about $54,000 and allows for more space for passengers, due to its hard-top design, as opposed to the Boxster’s convertible configuration. The Cayman also has two trunks for more storage space, something that Porsche vehicles tend to lack.

2017 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Performance. Technology. Comfort. Quality. The Mercedes-Benz S Class is the gold standard for 2017 luxury vehicles. It is one of the most expensive luxury cars released in 2017, costing nearly $100,000; however, it also includes everything you could ever want in a car. Dual 12.3-inch touch screens and active park assist, complete with automatic parking, make this machine a true work of art, but one of the most unique elements of the S-Class is its “Magic Body Control” feature that uses a camera to scan the road ahead and adjust the vehicle’s suspension to accommodate for any changes in the terrain.

2017 Audi A7

The A7 is the most practical model on the list, although its overall look could rival any luxury car on the market. The spacious cabin and flawless interior makes this car stand out amongst the rest. It may not be as fast as some of the vehicles listed above, but for just under $69,000, you are certainly getting the most bang for your buck with the Audi A7.

The much-anticipated 2018 Ford Mustang GT is set to release later this year, but you won’t have to wait until then to salivate over the gaudy details that were presented to the public this week. The most notable feature of the new GT is its ability to go from 0 to 60 in under four seconds, making it the fastest Mustang that Ford has ever produced.

The Mustang has been an American muscle classic for decades, but in terms of performance, it could never stand up next to luxury car brands like Porsche, BMW, or Audi. It has even taken a back seat to Chevy’s performance vehicles such as the Camaro and Corvette in recent years. Needless to say, Ford is back in the game with this new monster.

Giddy Up Mustang

The new and improved Mustang GT includes a 5-liter, V8 engine capable of producing 460 horsepower and 420 pounds of torque. It also benefits from a new 10-speed automatic transmission that, when combined with the vehicle’s unique “drag strip” mode, can boost the vehicle to incredible speeds in almost no time at all. The “drag strip” mode is one of five driver-selectable modes that will be available in the new 2018 GT. The Mustang’s chief engineer, Carl Widmann, explained that the “drag strip” mode allows the Ford-built 10-speed transmission to power through gear shifts in order to maximize engine torque and horsepower without losing time.

Of course, the big news is always going to surround the upgraded model of any vehicle, but individuals who opt for the standard 2018 Ford Mustang will also see plenty of improvements in performance. It will include a 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine that can generate 310 horsepower and 350 pounds of torque. The company has officially dropped the 3.7-liter, V6 engine, acknowledging that the 4-cylinder provides more torque and fuel efficiency.

One thing is for sure, Ford is back on the map with this powerful beast of a car. Expect to see plenty of these Mustangs galloping down city streets come 2018.
